Welcome to planDisney, Stuart, and thanks for stopping by with this great question. How exciting to be planning a springtime visit to the
Most Magical Place on Earth. My husband and I travel extensively, so I consider myself an experienced packer. Let's see what magical ensembles you can wear when you meet Mickey.
Much like Daisy Duck, March in Florida can be fickle. They say if you don't like the weather, stick around for 10 minutes because it will change! The mornings and evenings could be cool that time of year, but temperatures can climb once that Orlando sunshine is out.
My number one tip is to bring layers. Start with a fun
Disney tee shirt paired with a light hoodie or windbreaker. Once it warms up, you can shed that outer layer, so I recommend
lightweight jackets for easy stowing inside a backpack.
You'll see guests in shorts and skirts in March, but many will wear lightweight joggers or jeans. And remember to bring your most comfortable shoes! I think Europeans call them "trainers," and I'd pack two pairs if you have room. March is known for light, brief rain showers, so it's nice to have dry shoes to change into.
Speaking of rain, I love your idea of a packable, waterproof jacket. Some of my family's best Disney memories are of rainy days in
Magic Kingdom Park. Crowds can be light, and once you're wet, you might as well play! And Cinderella Castle makes a beautiful, haunting backdrop for photos on a blustery day.
Stuart, how we interpret weather can be subjective. At my house, we constantly squabble over the thermostat. I'm too cold; they're too warm. It's a tale as old as time! Weather-wise, I think March is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World Resort, so pack a raincoat and sunscreen because that's the Florida way!
