What is the best age group of kids to bring to Walt Disney World? We have 13 and 10 year old daughters, and they really want the family vacation to be Disney World this summer but are they to old? Thanks!

    Hi Tylyn,

I thought I'd answer your question as I have two daughters who are aged 13 and 11 so almost the same ages as your girls.

My girls have been to WDW several times and even though they're now a bit older it's still their number one vacation destination. It really does have something for everyone, from the thrill rides and the great shows at the parks to the fun water parks, mini golf and speed boats, you'll definitely find something to please every member of the family.

I will admit that our Disney trips are different now that they're older but in a good way. We spend less time waiting to meet characters to get their photo and autograph. We also spend a lot less time in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom and at all the other attractions aimed at the younger children. However this frees up lots of time to ride some of the more thrilling attractions such as Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom and all the Mountains at Magic Kingdom. As they're older they don't need an afternoon nap, instead we'll have fun in the pool or have a round of mini golf, they are also wide awake to watch all the great fireworks shows and are not scared of the loud bangs. I think the best part of visiting when they're older though is that you no longer need a stroller and there are far less tantrums and tears, both of which make a far nicer vacation.

As they've gotten older we've been able to really enjoy some of the signature restaurants that WDW has to offer which I personally wouldn't have taken them to when they were younger. My youngest had her first taste of steak at Narcoossee's last year and hasn't looked back since!!!!

I suppose what I'm saying is go for it, any age is a great age to visit Disney, go and become a kid again yourself and have a fantastic family vacation.
