Besides going into the park itself, are there activities/sights at the various DisneyWorld hotels that should not be missed? We might take time to just visit all the different hotels (sort of like walking Vegas), but is that allowed or must you be guests?

Hello, Sarah! It sounds like you are planning a very unique visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! I did a walking tour of Las Vegas a few months back, and it was so much fun. The Walt Disney World Resort hotels are quite a bit more spread out than the Las Vegas strip, but you can certainly visit each property to indulge in some of the fabulous shopping, dining, and recreational activities that each resort has to offer.

Instead of walking from resort to resort, you would need to utilize Disney's transportation system (which is complimentary to Guests of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels!). Here's where a little advance planning really pays off: you might want to choose your favorite resort experiences, and then map them out by available transportation. It helps to have a really defined plan in mind before you set out to explore.

A few really great Disney Resort hotel dining options and activities to experience are:
    • A nice Tonga Toast breakfast from Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
    • Tasting the herb seasoned beef tenderloin from The Wave... of American Flavors before indulging in a bit of shopping at Disney's Contemporary Resort
    • Relaxing with a spa treatment at Senses - A Disney Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and then shopping at Basin White
    • A knee-slapping, hand-clapping dinner at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at The Cabins At Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
    • Also at The Cabins At Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort: The Fort Wilderness Archery Experience and pony rides for small children at Tri-Circle-D Ranch!
There are so many wonderful dining options at the Disney Resort hotels (including Character Dining), and I just know that you will have a fun time exploring these options on your next visit. I hope that you have a great time visiting the Disney Resort hotels. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me here at the Moms Panel, Sarah!
