We belong to DVC. Just got an email offering travel insurance for $79. Has anyone ever purchased and/or used travel insurance for a trip? Is it worth the $? Does the fee cover everyone in the group? We are planning a July trip with 11 people.

    Hi Karen,

I am generally not a risk taker but I personally have never purchased travel insurance. This being said other family members have and they were greatful for having it.

The policy offered to Disney Vacation Club members is written by Travelex. It covers the basics if you have to cancel your trip due to illness or other reasons. The policy lists exactly what is covered and it is different for each state.

In general though, this policy will cover up to 15 people traveling with the owner or spouse of the Disney Vacation Club rental who is listed on the reservation. However, you can not exceed the capacity of the room. It would cover your guests who are traveling without you to the resort provided they are listed on the reservation.

To enroll in the program, reach out to Member Services at 1-800-800-9800. For specific coverage questions, reach out to Travelex at 1-877-886-4664.

When I book my next Disney Vacation Club trip, I will seriously be considering this insurance.

    Have a great vacation!
