Hi there, Megan! Thank you for coming to planDisney and trusting us with your Walt Disney World vacation planning questions.
How exciting that you have a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth in just about six weeks! And, staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be such a treat! I love the convenience of staying on the monorail, plus being able to wake up and walk out to see Cinderella Castle is truly magical.
When you arrive to your resort, even though you will be earlier than the 4:00 PM check-in, be sure to head to the check-in desk and let the Cast Member know that you are there. Often, I have gotten my room early because someone knows I am in the hotel waiting. Should a room not be available, take your luggage to Bell Services. The Cast Member there will be happy to put your bags in their secured storage area and give you a claim ticket.
Once you have stored your luggage, you are free to roam. If you do not plan on going to a theme park that day, take this opportunity to do the “Magic Kingdom Resort Tour”. You can take the monorail from the Grand Floridian to Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Resort. You can also walk from Grand Floridian to Polynesian. If you take the monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom, you can transfer to a boat to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge as well. One of my favorite restaurants for lunch,
Whispering Canyon Café, is at Wilderness Lodge. You can try making a reservation for that in advance or the day of on the
MyDisneyExperience mobile app.
I hope this helps with planning for your February vacation to Walt Disney World! Thank you again for visiting planDisney.
Happy Traveling,
Tracy
