Hi Amber,
Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question! How exciting to be planning an
Alaskan adventure aboard Disney Cruise Line! You will be in awe of the majestic scenery surrounding the ship at every port and all points in between. I am thrilled to help you discover the
Alaskan Port Adventures available to you!
On the Disney Cruise Line website, under the Destinations tab, scroll down to Shore Excursions and then select Port Adventures. On the next screen, scroll down to Port Adventures by Destination, then Alaska Port Adventures. From there, you can sort the adventures by Port of Call, Experience Type, Activity Level, Accessibility, and Price Range. There is everything from culinary and cultural experiences to active nature sightseeing explorations. So, it truly is a smorgasbord of choices based on your activity level and budget.
In terms of budgeting, it is helpful to know that there is a wide range of options. Some Port Adventures are less than $50 per person, such as
The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. There are lots to choose from that are less than $200 per person, like the
Bear Sanctuary, Eagle Rescue and Native Trails in Sitka. If your budget allows, you can choose other adventures in the $1,000 per person range for activities like the
Dog Sled Adventure by Helicopter. I think that the
Charter Adventure with Whales and Wildlife is a real bargain at $1,700 for up to six Guests. Amber, all of these offerings and prices are subject to change.
Of course, the Port Adventures you have to choose from will depend on the cruise itinerary. Remember, Mother Nature is in charge when it comes to the weather, so sometimes Port Adventures can vary, change, or even be subject to cancellation. The Crew Members will keep you informed and up-to-date with any changes that may occur.
You will also be glad to learn that Naturalist presentations are offered onboard during Alaskan cruises. These trained experts will share knowledge about the many fascinating aspects of the Alaskan frontier, incredible wildlife, and Alaska's noble history. Once onboard, check your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for the specific times of these presentations typically offered in the Walt Disney Theatre. While sailing, the naturalists often provide information about the wildlife you might see along the way over the intercom system. It really is an exciting moment when they share information in real-time!
One of the best places to take in the gorgeous scenery is from the ship's pool deck. You can grab a complimentary warm and fuzzy blanket and hot cocoa from the beverage station and then sit back and take it all in! And don't forget, one of the best "spottings" is Mickey and Minnie dressed in their Alaskan-inspired gear. Your Navigator app will list the time and location for this and other special
Character Greetings.
The more I write to you, the more I'm ready to book my next cruise! I hope this information has helped inspire you to do the same, Amber. Please let us know if you have other questions as you plan.
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
