Hey there, Cathy!
As a fellow Rhode Islander, it's my pleasure to welcome you to planDisney! It's always fun to see another Guest from the Ocean State stop by, and I'm so glad you brought your question to us. How exciting that you're planning a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I always think the countdown is part of the magic, especially when you're busy imagining all the memories you'll be making during your trip.
As a fellow wheelchair user, I can tell you that Disney does a great job with its
accessible rooms. One feature I especially appreciate is that the beds are lower than those in standard rooms, which can make transfers much easier. I also find the extra floor space helpful, as it gives me more room to move around comfortably.
The bathrooms are designed with accessibility in mind as well. The vanity is easy to roll up to, and depending on the room you've reserved, you'll have either a roll-in shower or an accessible bathtub. I've always found Disney's accessible accommodations to be thoughtfully designed, and those little details can make a big difference when you're away from home.
As you get ready for your trip, I'd encourage you to spend a little time exploring the
accessibility information available through Walt Disney World. There are some excellent resources that cover everything from transportation and attractions to resort accommodations and park navigation, which can be incredibly helpful when planning ahead.
I also highly recommend having the
My Disney Experience app installed on your phone before you arrive. Not only is it useful for managing your vacation plans, but it also includes accessibility information that you can reference on the go. I find it especially convenient to have those details readily available while I'm in the parks, rather than having to search for them later.
Cathy, I hope this information has helped you feel a little more prepared and excited for your upcoming visit! I know how valuable it can be to hear from someone with firsthand experience, so if any additional questions come up as you continue planning, please don't hesitate to
reach out to me directly here at planDisney. Wishing you a vacation filled with wonderful memories, magical moments, and plenty of pixie dust along the way.
Happy Planning,
Kami
