Ahoy there, Diane and welcome back to planDisney!
If you're looking for a taste of the pirate's life,
The Beak and Barrel which has recently opened at the
Magic Kingdom, is definitely the place to be. Here you will find seaworthy sips and snacks served up by a jolly crew and plenty to keep you entertained during your visit including commentary from Rummy the chatty parrot.
The timing of your question couldn't be any better as I have just returned from a short trip to Walt Disney World, with friends, where we visited The Beak and Barrel not once, but, twice and I can honestly say that the all-round theming of this swashbuckling tavern is just something else.
Top Tip - We much preferred standing at the bar to being seated. This really allowed us to soak up the amazing atmosphere and to take in all of the entertainment on offer.
Going back to your question, Diane, whilst there, we did sample the Cook's Corn Griddle Cakes and Island Provisions, both of which were really good and I would highly recommend.
I can tell you that our server did ask if any of our party had any allergies before we placed our order. This would be the perfect time for you to ask if it would be possible to have the corn griddle cakes without the cotija and chili peppers. Alternatively, you can also request to speak to a Special Diets Trained Cast Member, upon arrival.
In case it helps, a friend of mine did request to see the allergy-friendly menu and the corn griddle cakes were on there as an option for guests with gluten/wheat, egg, fish/shellfish, peanut/tree nut, sesame and soy allergies.
Drinks-wise, the Siren's Whisper and Salty Seas mARRRgarita were our favourites. It did take us 3 attempts to order them, though, as the crew member serving us wasn't happy with the amount of ARRR we were expressing when asking for a Salty Seas mARRRgarita!
I am, however, now I'm back at home, regretting not purchasing the speciality skull mug which comes with the Plunderer's Punch - a tropical-spiced cocktail made with The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, lime, and vanilla. It would have definitely been a cute keepsake.
I hope that this information has been of use, Diane and that you and yer best mates enjoy your visit to The Beak and Barrel. If we can be of any further help with the planning of your visit, please feel free to revisit us, here at
planDisney.
Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
