How much is the basic internet package on the Disney Cruise Ships. I just want to be able to send my family an occasional message? Also, if you have onboard credit can you use that to pay for your internet access?

    Ahoy, Megan!
Can you believe you'll be setting sail on your Disney Cruise in just a few days? It won't be long before you're rubbing elbows with your favorite Disney Pals on your Very Merrytime Cruise!
When you arrive in your stateroom, you'll find the latest internet rates to look over. If you purchase data, it will be charged to your stateroom account, so your onboard credit can apply to the fees. Rates can be pay-as-you-go or you can purchase a package. Rates range from $0.25 per MB (pricing always subject to change) up to a package for around $89.00 for 1000 MB. On the first day, each stateroom is given 50 MB free, which can be used from noon until midnight on embarkation day. You'll just log in to the Wi-Fi via DCL-Guest. If you purchase data through the Connect@sea program, there will be an online usage monitor to help you keep track of MB used and you'll receive email updates as well.
We always purchase an internet package on our sailings. Although it's gotten better over the years, it is slower at sea than on land and certain areas of the ship don't have the best connectivity.
I hope you have the most magical time on your sailing, Megan! Thank you for stopping by with your questions.
    Bon Voyage!
