What do we do with the backpacks, coolers, and assorted tag-a-longs while on rides or attending shows? Can we take a small soft cooler or backpack with us to venues?

You can bring a purse, backpack, or small soft-sided cooler with you on all the rides. I would suggest that you do this if you have anything valuable (camera equipment, wallet, etc.) with you. Several rides have special pouches or bins in the ride vehicle for you to stow your gear. But with most rides and attractions, you can just keep your bag on the seat next to you or on the floor in front of you.

Since you mention coolers, you should know that there are some size restrictions on coolers in the parks. You can read more about this HERE.

If for some reason you don't want to bring the gear on the rides with you, you could rent a locker. There are lockers available for rent at the entrances to each of the theme parks (and at the water parks). Prices can change, but currently a small locker costs $10.00 per day with a $5.00 rebate upon key return.
