Michelle,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Absolutely you can take a backpack into the Walt Disney World theme parks! I think of a backpack as my portable home base, carrying all the goodies I need throughout the day.
A few items you will want to think of tossing in there include
- sunscreen
- snacks
- hats
- sunglasses
- cameras
- ponchos (in case you get caught out in one of those brief afternoon rain showers!)
- water bottles
- a small bottle of aspirin
- any medicines you require during the day, like an epi-pen
- phone battery chargers or cords
When you arrive at a Disney theme park there is a bag check where they will perform a quick inspection. It is a fast process, nothing that will significantly delay your arrival into the magic. You will then find that many of the rides have a space in your ride car to store a backpack while you ride. That is not on every ride, but most where it might be needed. The key here is that when you get off of the
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, remember to grab that bag!
BONUS TIPI don't always want to carry around my backpack through the parks, so I will use one of the
in-park lockers to store it while I go on rides. Always found at the entrance to the park after passing through the turnstiles, there are a few locker sizes available. They are keyless and typically will cost you $15 or less for the day.
The Magic Kingdom Park and
EPCOT even have a few larger lockers available that are up to 17" x 22" x 26" (43 cm x 55 cm x 66 cm).
BONUS TIP #2I also like to throw a small hand towel into my backpack. I don't have a particular use in mind, but it always seems to come in handy, from taking care of spills, to drying off after a quick rainstorm.
BONUS TIP #3Backpacks can all start to look alike. Add some decoration or flair so that yours is easy to spot from the rest in the crowd. Of course you will also want to add an address label, including the name of your resort home, so that if you are separated the Disney Cast Members can easily get the bag back to you.
Write me back if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Vacation!Doug
