Ahoy, Debra!
Welcome home! I hope you are still feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after visiting the
Bahamas and Disney's private island,
Castaway Cay while on the
Disney Dream. I also hope you were able to visit the
Disney Vacation Desk while onboard and are already looking forward to another magical adventure with the cutest captains at sea, Mickey and Minnie! It sure makes disembarking a lot easier when you have a future voyage on the books.
Debra, I always enjoy the creativity of other Guests when strolling down the hallways on a Disney Cruise ship. I love looking at the magnets on the doors and seeing the Fish Extender pockets hanging outside some of the staterooms. The Fish Extender began many years ago by a Disney Cruise Line Guest who wanted to create a gift exchange on her sailing. The name "Fish Extender" came from the fish that are located outside each stateroom door. The pockets you saw hung on these fish are where Guests deliver surprises that they either made or bought to give to others during the cruise. Since Disney Cruise Line does not sponsor this, you will find Guests on each sailing taking on the task of organizing this activity. If you'd like to participate on your next cruise, the best place to start is Facebook. A Guest usually starts a Facebook group for a sailing and then creates Fish Extender groups for others to join if interested. I've never participated but seen some very imaginative gifts exchanged over the years.
Thank you for sailing by with your question, Debra! It was a pleasure to hEAR from you.
Have a DREAMy day!
Nancy
