Hi there! We will be back for Marathon Weekend 2018 and are super excited. I am attempting my 1st full marathon. Any good dining suggestions for a pre-race meal? Looking for in park or even resort dining option suggestions. Thanks!

    Hi Jackie!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As the 180 day mark quickly approaches for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, I've been trying to plan my pre-race meals too! I've taken two different approaches for dinner the night before a race and both have fared well.

First and foremost, I am a big fan of carb-loading dinners, so pasta is always a go to for me! My personal favorite is Portobello Country Italian Trattoria at Disney Springs. Though this is currently closed for refurbishment, it is taking reservations for the fall so it should certainly be ready for January 2018. Some other popular Italian locations are Trattoria al Forno at Disney's BoardWalk and Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot. I don't think you can wrong with any of these locations and you'll find a variety of pastas to suit your runner's dream!

Another option that I'll use, particularly if I'm running a Challenge and need to give myself some downtime is room service! Depending on what resort you are staying at, you may find an option that works perfectly while allowing you to relax in the comfort of your own room, propping your feet up so they are ready for 26.2 miles the following morning. When my family visits this fall for Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, I plan on eating the Ohana Twilight Feast in my room at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This is essentially the great spread you can enjoy at Ohana, but delivered as room service!

If you want more specifics for your resort, please come back and let me know!
