Should we avoid the Magic Kingdom on park days that have the Fantasyland Early Morning Magic due to heavy crowds?

    Stacy,

This is an excellent question, thanks!

So I have a few basic rules to determine when to go to a particular park, based on Disney Early Morning Magic or Extra Magic Hours, and when to avoid it.
    • Rule #1: If your vacation schedule allows you to go somewhere else while still seeing all the parks the amounts of times you would want, then yes, do go to another park. So if on a 6-day vacation you want to see the Magic Kingdom twice, if you can pick two other days to go there, then not going there the day of Early Morning Magic would be preferable. But we don't always have that luxury, so that leads me to rules #2 & 3.
    • Rule #2: During slower times of the year (like when most schools would be in session, i.e. late August to mid-December and January to May), I would not let the Early Morning Magic deter me from going to whatever park I prefer that day. Why? Well by the time I get there those early crowds have done a lot, and are likely moved on to third or fourth choice attractions. Many will still be at what are my first choice, but I still find it manageable.
    • Rule #3: During busier times of the year, like the Holiday break in December, Thanksgiving weekend, and the height of Summer, I would pass every time. Other parks would be better choices.
Whatever you do, don't let the thought of these events dissuade you from having a great vacation. Do they bring more people into a particular park? Yes, sure they do. But that does not necessarily mean that the parks will feel over-crowded. You will still have a fantastic time at the most magical place on earth!

BOTTOM LINE: Don't let these special events deter you from seeing the parks that are best for you and your family. But if you can arrange your schedule to go elsewhere, it can come out to your benefit.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
