What is the average age that parents bring their children to Walt Disney?

There really is no "average age" for a trip to Disney World. People bring infants to the parks and many adults love a Disney vacation on their own (I've been all by myself several times).

While you can have great fun at WDW at any age, the trip you have will be very different depending on how old your children are. As an example, we first brought our oldest daughter to WDW when she was about two. We went on some of the Fantasyland rides with her in the Magic Kingdom, which we all enjoyed, but the rides were only a small part of our vacation. My daughter's most favorite thing on these early trips was meeting the characters. She ADORED running up to them and getting hugs and feeling their soft fur and bumpy noses. We ate at least once character meal everyday, and often two. Everything was so real to her then. Her belief was just so charming.

Fast forward ten years and the little girl that loved the characters is now almost 12. While she's still game for a hug from Mickey now and then, rollercoasters and gourmet food are much more her thing these days. We don't wait in the character greeting lines and she doesn't "believe" any more, but we do have a fabulous time exploring the World Showcase at Epcot, sampling new foods at the signature restaurants, renting boats at our hotel, and facing the Yeti on Expedition Everest.

My daughter doesn't remember those first trips, but I do. I will always cherish the memory of her running up to hug Dopey for the first time. Just as I cherish the memory of my three girls riding a rollercoaster together for the first time. The choice is really up to you.
