Aloha, Suk Har! E komo mai (welcome) to our planDisney ohana! We are happy to help you!
Traveling during these uncertain times can be stressful, but I've found it's very healing for my soul to get away and relax. I know your upcoming stay at
Aulani Disney Resort & Spa on the gorgeous Leeward Coast of Oahu, Hawaii, will be very soothing for you as well. I spoke with a kind Cast Member at the resort today who gave me detailed responses to your questions, so let's dive right in!
There are specific instructions and requirements for all visitors to Hawaii. Currently, they are operating under the Safe Travels Program for domestic US travelers; however, if you are an international resident entering Hawaii via a US state, you will be treated as a domestic traveler. I recommend visiting the Hawaii Tourism website at www.gohawaii.com/travel-requirements. This will explain their travel requirements prior to your trip.
Also, because Aulani is located in Honolulu, there are additional requirements; Guests of the resort must provide proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours for all guests ages 12 and older dining on property, and this includes any take out meals. Understandably, not all guests can (or desire to) be vaccinated. In this case, I would recommend traveling with some at-home testing kits that can be found online, and if anyone in your party is not vaccinated, they will need to show proof of a negative test every 48 hours. I was assured that Aulani will accept results from these kits, but you may want to call the hotel operator at (808) 674-6200 if you have specific questions. If you prefer to be tested off-site, go to www.oneoahu.org for a list of nearby testing sites, or you can call (808) 768-CITY (2489).
If the unfortunate circumstance that someone in your family tests positive for Covid-19, then the quarantine procedures are as follows: If you are in a standard hotel room, then everyone in that room must stay there and quarantine for five days. If you are in a suite or villa with multiple bedrooms, then the guest(s) who has tested positive must isolate in one of the bedrooms for five days. If the remainder of the travel party is negative, they do not need to quarantine as long as they sleep in a separate bedroom.
I hope this helps, Suk Har! My wonderful friend,
Julie, is there right now, and she wanted you to know that her favorite place on property is the
Olelo Room, where guests can learn about the Hawaiian language and culture. There's live music every night in Hawaiian, and it's such a wonderful place to be after sunset. They have unique sushi options there, and the ahi sashimi is so fresh that it melts in your mouth like butter! Also, check out the
Disney Parks Blog for some fun Hawaiian expressions to know for your visit to Aulani.
