Hello! This August I am hoping to take both my parents on their first trip to Disney, all parks! Mom is 60 and dad is 48. I’m worried about the mobility aspect for mom, any tips? My mom is overweight as well, will many rides be unavailable for her?

    Hey there, Kennedy!

It brings me so much joy to welcome you to the most magical panel on Earth – planDisney! Thank you for bringing this great question to us today. Here at planDisney, we're all about helping Guests make the most of their Disney vacations, and I'm thrilled to be part of your planning journey.

One of the many things I appreciate most about Walt Disney World is its unwavering dedication and commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for every Guest. Whether it's through thoughtful accommodations, immersive storytelling, or world-class hospitality, Disney goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the magic in a way that feels meaningful and memorable.

Speaking from my own experience as a wheelchair user, I can confidently say that Walt Disney World stands out as one of the most mobility-friendly destinations I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. From accessible transportation options, including wheelchair and scooter-friendly buses, the iconic monorail, Disney Skyliner gondolas, and water taxis equipped with ramps and designated spaces. Additionally, specially designed attractions and carefully planned pathways ensure Guests with mobility challenges can navigate the parks safely and comfortably.

If you have any concerns about whether someone in your party will fit comfortably on a particular attraction, many rides provide test vehicles that you can try before joining the queue. Plus, Disney Cast Members are always compassionate, attentive, and ready to help, including the helpful Guest Experience Team – easily spotted by their bright blue umbrellas – who are available throughout the parks to assist with any questions or accessibility needs. Their support ensures that everyone can experience the magic in a welcoming and supportive environment.

You can also find a helpful "Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities" section directly within the My Disney Experience mobile app. This convenient and user-friendly resource is especially valuable when you're in the parks, giving you quick and easy access to important information right when you need it during your visit.

Kennedy, I hope this information is helpful, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I'm always happy to help friends like you!
