DH and I are attending NOJ concert 9/6. We always travel to WDW in June or July with our family of 8. Will the crowd level at MK be noticeably different on that night? Would like to experience MK w/o the overwhelming summer crowds.

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Elizabeth! You will find that September is a much less crowded month than June and July for a visit to Walt Disney World. In fact, September is one of the best times to visit due to historically low crowd levels and special discounts on resort stays as well as free dining offers. The lower crowd levels are due in large part to the fact that most schools will be back in session just after Labor Day weekend. Lower crowd predictions for September generally hold true despite the extra incentives Disney offers (such as free dining) during this month. Many quick-service and table-service restaurants, however, will likely be hopping thanks to the "free dining" promotion so it's important to plan accordingly and make your dining reservations as far in advance as possible.

The two dates in September when Night of Joy is held will see reduced attendance in Magic Kingdom Park due to the early 7:00 PM closure and lack of evening entertainment (no parade and fireworks). Also, Night of Joy is a special event which requires a separate admission ticket and Disney caps the number of tickets sold for this event (though what that exact number is remains somewhat of a mystery). As you may already know, there will be several stage areas set up around Magic Kingdom, but there is no seating available (it's standing room only). Guests will naturally cluster around these areas during the event.

Your special event ticket for Night of Joy will allow you access to Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00 PM. If you don't have regular park admission tickets on Friday, September 9th, be sure to take advantage of the extra 3 hours in the park to experience your preferred attractions, meet your favorite Disney characters and have an early dinner before the concerts begin at 7:00 PM.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
