We are attending our first fireworks dessert post party in June. Fireworks are at 10 with park close at 11. Will we have any time to squeeze in a ride after our dessert party or will that be too rushed? I have some antsy teenagers.

    Hiya, Tara!

I’m so happy to welcome you back to planDisney with another great question! Your trip to Walt Disney World Resort will be here before you know it, and I can only imagine how excited you must be as the countdown gets closer. Summer is such a fun time to visit Disney World because there’s always something new to discover, whether it’s entertainment, snacks, activities, or little surprises along the way. It really sounds like you’re set up to have the BEST VACATION EVER!

The Fireworks Dessert Party – Post-Party at Magic Kingdom Park is such a fun way to end a special Disney day! Here’s how the experience typically works.

You’ll first check in at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant beginning about 60 minutes before Happily Ever After begins. Shortly before the fireworks start, Cast Members will escort Guests to a reserved standing area in the Plaza Garden, where you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of the nighttime spectacular.

After the fireworks conclude, you’ll head back to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant for the dessert portion of the evening. There, you’ll get to enjoy a delicious assortment of sweets and treats inspired by the different lands of Magic Kingdom. The post-party dessert experience itself usually lasts about an hour.

To answer your question specifically, Happily Ever After runs for about 18 minutes. As a fellow mom of a tween and teenager, I completely understand wanting to squeeze in every last attraction before the park closes! While it might technically be possible to fit in another ride afterward, I do think it could make the dessert party portion feel a bit rushed.

The nice thing is that you’re welcome to leave the party whenever you’d like. As long as you enter an attraction queue before the official park closing time, you’ll still be able to ride. If your teens are especially determined to fit in one more attraction, another option could be for them to head to the ride while the rest of your group stays back to relax and enjoy the desserts and atmosphere, if that’s something you’d feel comfortable with.

Tara, I hope you and your family have the most wonderful trip filled with fun, laughter, and so many special memories together. Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney.
