Hello! I will be attending my first ever 5K run in November. I struggle with some medical conditions which may prevent me from running. Is it permissible to speed walk instead (~4.0 mph) or must I run?

    Hi Valerie!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Congratulations on taking on the challenge of participating in the Disney Fall Feast 5K

All runDisney races have a requirement of maintaining a 16 minute mile. This is measured from the time for the very last participant crosses the start line. Based on the corral you are in and where you are in the corral this will give you some cushion. You most certainly do not have to run the race and walkers are absolutely welcome. In fact, I'd say runDisney races in general are the most walker friendly of any of the races I've ever participated in. Since you are currently maintaining a pace of approximately a 15 minute mile you should certainly be fine! I'm personally a fan of the Jeff Galloway Run-Walk-Run method and use this for every race I do!

I hope you have a magical race and please let me know if you have any other questions!
