Hi! I will be attending the Dark Side half marathon as a spectator. Can you tell me what to expect? Also, can you suggest which park might have fewer crowds on that Sunday of the half marathon? We only have one day for the parks this trip. Thanks!

    Hi Heather!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Races can be so much fun as a spectator and I know your runner will appreciate the support along the course!

As a spectator, I would definitely recommend signing up for the Runner Tracking which will be available at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. When your runner goes to pick up their bib for Star Wars Half Marathon- The Dark Side they can sign you up with either your email or phone number, you do not need to be present. This complimentary service will send you alerts when your runner crosses the start line and hits specific mile markers along the course. It will even give you the pace your runner is at and an estimated completion time!

If you are interested, another great option is to sign up for the ChEAR Squad Package, available under the Spectator tab. This will give you reserved seating at the finish line, a private restroom, hot and cold beverages and some awesome ChEAR squad swag!

I would also familiarize yourself with the course if you'd like to try and catch your runner at various points. Once the courses are released closer to the race, it will be available to view under the Runner Info tab under course (currently not showing). If you use this in conjunction with the Runner Tracking you should be able to follow your runners path fairly easy!

Based on the dates of the race, I think you'll find relatively low crowds across all four parks, so I'd choose based on your families personal preference. I hope y'all have a wonderful trip!
