How do I ask the front desk for a handicap room on the third floor near the lobby area? I am not in a wheelchair but I do walk with a cane with terrible arthritis.

Hiya, Kate! Welcome to planDisney. We're happy you're here!

It sounds like you're making plans to visit Walt Disney World Resort in January and I can't think of a better way to ring in the new year! A trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth is a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime and I'm so excited for your upcoming vacation. The only thing better than looking forward to a magical trip is picking just the right Disney Resorts Collection hotel to call "home" during your visit! I'd love to help you with your room requests, Kate.

While I'm not sure which Disney Resorts Collection hotel you'll be staying in during your visit, I have a few tips to help you request the right room for you! First, when looking for rooms online, you can filter by Accessible Rooms. On the main Walt Disney World Resort page, be sure to click the "Accessible Rooms" box before clicking View Rates! If you've already booked your room, you can also try to modify your reservation to request an Accessible Room. To do this, log into your account online, hover your mouse over the My Disney Experience tab, and click My Plans. Scroll down until you see your Disney Resorts Collection hotel reservation, then click "Change Reservation." Click "Change" next to Room Type, then click the blue "Change" button next to your desired dates. Check the box next to "Accessible Rooms," then click "Find A Room." This should allow you to filter by Accessible Rooms!

Once you've selected your desired room type, you can make some additional requests if you choose to complete online check-in. Click "Start Check-in" on the My Plans page, then click "Show Details." You should be able to edit your Room Requests, which may include an option such as "Near Lobby." However, you can also call a Cast Member and ask that your requests are added to your reservation! Please know that no request can be guaranteed, even though Cast Members will always do their best to accommodate your requests.

I hope I was able to point you in the right direction today, Kate! If you have any other questions – perhaps about advance dining reservations, virtual queues, or using the My Disney Experience app – please write to us again. After all, you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon!
