Hello. I am arriving in wdw at noon on thanksgiving day. We would like to eat a sit down lunch. We are staying at contemporary and prefer to eat there or at a park. Liberty restaurant in magic kingdom is already booked. Any ideas for a reservation at 2pm.

Hi Evelyn! How fun to be celebrating Thanksgiving at Walt Disney World! Lots of restaurants at Walt Disney World still have availability for lunch on Thanksgiving Day. If you click here and put in the date and number of your party and the 2 p.m. time you desire, you can see a list of all the restaurants with available tables.

If you want to have lunch at The Contemporary, consider The Wave...of American Flavors. Last year The Wave offered a meal of traditional Thanksgiving fare along with other choices from its regular menu. The Whispering Canyon Cafe at the nearby Wilderness Lodge also has availability. Last year the restaurant offered a special Thanksgiving menu.  If you're open to a more non-traditional Thanksgiving meal, 'Ohana at the Polynesian appears to be open for lunch on Thanksgiving Day. It's usually very difficult to get reservations at this popular restaurant, so you might want to snap up this opportunity to sample a meal here. Turkey's usually on the menu but it's mesquite-grilled and brought to your table on skewers, along with other grilled meats and lots of vegetables and sides served family-style at your table.  Finally, if you want to celebrate the holiday with characters, it appears that both Crystal Palace, a buffet with Pooh and friends, and Cinderella's Royal Table, with the princesses in the Castle, are available in the Magic Kingdom.

Hope I've given you some food for thought!  Thanksgiving is a very popular time to visit Walt Disney World, so be sure to make your lunch reservations right away. Have a magical vacation! Come visit me again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! I'd love to help!
