Hi! we are arriving at WDW on Aug 30th around 5 that evening and I was wondering what would be a good activity to do on that evening? We were thinking about DTD or the Boardwalk. We have a 2yr old and wanted to relax, eat and shop. Please help!

Hi, Brandi!  I think Downtown Disney is a great place to start your Walt Disney World vacation without having to use any of your theme park passes.  We often spend our first or last evening there.

Check out the new T-Rex restaurant if you think you'll be looking for a big meal.  The restaurant has a dinosaur theme that my kids think is really cool, and the food and the portions are similar to what you would find at Rainforest Cafe - which is another good meal option.  We also enjoy Raglan Road for a later in the evening dinner.  One of the best meal values on Walt Disney World property can be found here as well at the Earl of Sandwich.  Great sandwiches, fair prices, and if you split a sandwich, you can save room for an ice cream at Ghiradelli's!

There are plenty of things to do to keep the little one busy.  You can play with a gazillion Lego pieces or in the small playground in front of the Lego store, and there is a carousel and a train for your two year old to ride on.  My girls also love to wander the World of Disney store, not to mention the toy store.

You can shop to your heart's content here, for everything from souvenirs to clothing.  Check out the new TrenD store, with some awesome and trendy Walt Disney World clothing, Mickey handbags, and much more.  We also spend a ton of time in Basin, choosing soaps and scents for the whole family.

    Have a wonderful time!
