We will be arriving at WDW in the afternoon and won't be going to the parks that day since we'll be tired from getting up so early for our flight, but I would like to go somewhere special for dinner at one of the resorts that night. What would you suggest?

    Hi Kathlin,

There are a number of special restaurants in the Disney resorts.

If you're looking to start your vacation with a character meal - a great way to get in the Disney mood - your dinner choices in the resorts would be 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian (Cinderella, the Prince, and Cindy's step family), Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary (Mickey and the gang), or Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness.

If you're looking for a relaxing experience with gourmet food and wine at a resort, try one of Disney's signature restaurants. Some of my favorites include Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge, California Grill at the Contemporary, Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Citricos at the Grand Floridian.

If you just want a nice meal at moderate price, some good choices are the Wave at the Contemporary, Turf Club at Saratoga Springs, or Ohana at the Polynesian. There are lots of nice choices at Downtown Disney as well.

You may want to head over to the independent website allears.net. They have the complete menus for all Disney restaurants, so you can see what your options are. The independent website DisneyFoodBlog.com has reviews and photos of the restaurants, which might help you decide if the atmosphere suits you.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
