Hi arriving from uk - land at 5.30 pm and then by hire car to FW campground we are staying in a cabin. How long will it take us to get to cabin and tips on where to eat- with tired 4 & 8 year old  will food shops be open

    Hi Sarah,

The journey from the airport to Fort Wilderness Campground should take roughly 40 minutes if there is no traffic, it will probably take you another 40 minutes to clear customs and security so hopefully you'll arrive at the campground by about 7pm. But this will be midnight for you so you'll all be pretty shattered. When I travel to Florida I never feel much like eating when I arrive so tend to go for something light rather than a full meal. At FW you can find snacks and take out food such as pizza at both Crockett's Tavern and Trail's End which are normally open until around 11pm.

One tip I always give to my English friends is to try and stay awake as long as possible on that first evening, my family loves to go for a swim and wash that aeroplane smell away. Then the next morning, when you'll be wide awake at about 6am, book a very early breakfast, my favourite recommendation is the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. This way you'll get to enter the park before the crowds, as long as it's not an extra magic hour morning, it gives you some great photo opportunities and is just a fantastic way to start your holiday.

    Have a great trip,
