Hi we will be arriving on 15th Oct.about 4pm and staying until 21st Oct. in the AKL. Can u suggest what we might do that night bearing in mind we have been up since 4am and have two kids 6 and 4. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Gail!  If we're going to be coming in after a long night of driving, I love staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, because it really is it's own entertainment spot!  What we like to do is make an advanced dining reservation for an early dinner at Boma (you can usually get reservations starting at around five o'clock).  After a nice dinner, we'll head out to see the animals or listen to the African Story tellers.  If it's dark out, you can even use night vision goggles to get a glimpse of the many beautiful animals.

There are also other things that take place at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and you can get a list of activities when you check in.  On our last visit, the children were welcome to borrow one of the musical instruments from the gift shop, and they paraded around the lobby, singing and playing the instruments.  It was a great way to end the evening for my girls, and got them in bed plenty early to hit the theme parks the next morning!

And don't forget the pool!  If the dinner and the animals aren't enough to tire out the kids, let them play in the pool a while, and then a warm bath or shower before bed.  We like to room service order dessert and let the kids sit on the balcony and eat their dessert while watching the animals.

    Have a great vacation!
