    Hi! Arriving on May for our first trip to WDW! Staying on POR, would like to know how the bus system works. How much time waiting for the buses and then how much time to get to the theme parks? Are the buses exclusive for each resort? Are there taxis? Thks

    Yeay! I'm glad to hear your planning is underway for your first trip. Thanks for letting the Moms Panel help with some details!

    Buses typically run on a 20 minute cycle. This means buses are expected to be at any given stop about every 20 minutes. In reality, this means you could be waiting anywhere from just a few minutes to a half-hour. Some of it will depend on your timing in arriving at the bus stop and some will depend on traffic and how the buses are flowing. I normally plan worst case and allot about 30 to 40 minutes of wait time.

    Once you are on the bus, I would plan a general time frame of 20 to 25 minutes for the ride. Some trips will be shorter, but that should be a good guideline.

    Some resort buses are shared among resorts. For example Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter may share some buses.

    Taxis are available and are often the best way to get to very early morning reservations or when you are in a rush. Of course, taxis are an out-of-pocket cost which need to be factored into a budget.
