Hi Sherry, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Many Walt Disney World Resort guests love the convenience of a pre-paid
Disney Dining Plan. For our family, we found the Disney Dining Plan to be very cost effective when our children were little. However, when our children turned 10 and became "Disney adults", we were in the same boat as you. My picky tweens barely ate anything, and certainly nothing from the adult menu. To be honest, my 17-year-old would still rather order a kids' chicken nugget meal! We decided that rather than be frustrated trying to get our children to order from the adult menu, we would let them order what they wanted and pay out of pocket. So sometimes my teen daughter will just order a side salad and be satisfied with that. Be aware that if you are planning to dine at a
buffet or price fixe dining location, all guests age 10 and up will be charged the adult price. In that case it may make sense to add a Dining Plan. Some guests also like to use their entitlements for
Signature Dining, which requires 2 Table-Service credits per person. Since all credits for your family are pooled, you may "spend" them however you wish. The adults in your party could use your family's dining credits for the Signature Dining experience, and you could pay out of pocket for your 10-year-old.
I hope that helps! Please feel free to come back to the Moms Panel if we can answer any additional questions.
Have a wonderful vacation!
