We will be arriving 12/27/13. W/ 4 kids 8,9,10,12. We are staying in AOA Nemo family Suite.Since we will not be visiting any parks on the arrival date we want to plan a magical dinner that evening to set the tone for the trip. Any suggestions?

Hi, Nicole!  There are several ways to kick off your Walt Disney World vacation with a magical bang!  One option is a character dining experience with either Chef Mickey and some of his friends at the Contemporary Resort, or maybe dinner with Cinderella and the evil stepfamily at the Grand Floridian.  While characters are subject to change, both of these dining experiences are quite popular, and a wonderful way to get the kids into a pixie dusted state of mind!  If you time it right, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary is just across the room from an observation deck, and that's a great place to see Wishes fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.

Another great first night meal is 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort.  You may be able to see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom from your table, but if you eat a bit earlier, head out to the Polynesian beach, where you'll be able to see the Electric Water Pageant and Wishes.

If it's just a different kind of dining experience you're looking for, you might enjoy the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness, an old fashioned, vaudeville type stage show.  You may even enjoy the Spirit of Aloha luau at the Polynesian.

Oh, and just a couple more!  Two favorites of my girls are T-Rex and the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney.  I usually let them browse the World of Disney and some of the other shops after dinner, and they pick out a t-shirt that they might wear the first day at the parks.

Have an absolutely wonderful time, no matter what you decide!
