Welcome to planDisney, Jason! And an early happy birthday to your youngest! There's something extra magical about celebrating a birthday at
Walt Disney World Resort, and I'm delighted to help you plan this special milestone.
The answer depends on how your vacation was booked. If you're visiting with separate
theme park tickets (or staying off-site), your son will be considered Mickey's guest until his third birthday. Beginning on November 30, when he turns 3 years old, he'll need a valid theme park ticket for admission for the remainder of your vacation.
However, there's an important exception if you've booked a
Walt Disney World Vacation Package. With a Vacation Package, your child's age is based on how old they are on your check-in date. Since your son will still be 2 years old when you arrive on November 28, he'll be considered 2 for the duration of your Vacation Package. That means he would continue to be Mickey's guest throughout your stay, even after celebrating his birthday during your vacation.
If your reservation includes a stay at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel with your theme park tickets (and perhaps a
dining plan) all booked together, you most likely have a Vacation Package. If your resort reservation and tickets were booked separately, or you're staying somewhere other than a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you'll want to purchase a theme park ticket beginning on November 30, the day he turns 3.
Since your family will be celebrating such a special birthday, be sure to stop by the front desk of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel or
Guest Relations to pick up a complimentary birthday celebration button. It's a fun keepsake, and your birthday Mouseketeer may even receive a few cheerful birthday wishes from Cast Members throughout the day!
I hope this helps you plan with confidence, Jason. If you have any other questions about celebrating your son's birthday or planning your Walt Disney World vacation, please stop by and visit us again here at planDisney. We'd be delighted to help!
May your family's magical vacation be filled with birthday wishes and plenty of pixie dust!
