Hi there. We are arriving for our Disney world vacation. On January 3. How do we arrange bus transportation to Animal Kingdom Kidani from Orlando airport?

    Hello Sheila!

Welcome to planDisney! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani Village is a great choice for your upcoming Walt Disney World Vacation. We are Disney Vacation Club Members and Kidani Village is our original Home Resort. I never tire of this resort, and when we arrive I always feel as though we have been transported to a far-off land, rather than central Florida!

Disney’s Magical Express which has been transporting travelers between Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World Resort for many years is set to make its final journey very soon. The service is no longer available for Guests with stays beginning January 1, 2022. You will need to arrange for your own transportation between the airport and your resort. There are several great options, and so depending on your needs and the size of your party, you’ll be able to choose which transportation option works best for you.

Your first options are taxis and rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft. You can also consider renting a car. For my visit this winter, we are planning to take one of the two new bus options. Mears Connect will use the same buses you may be used to with Disney’s Magical Express and will offer a very similar service for a per person fee. It will even be located in the old Magical Express area of the airport. You will need to visit their website to book your transportation. If you prefer transportation by motorcoach, this is the option I would recommend. Believe it or not, many years ago before Magical Express, Mears ran a very similar service. My mom and I used it on a mother-daughter trip back in the late 1990s! The second bus service will not be running in time for your early January visit but will begin service in February. The Sunshine Flyer will be an experience that features bus transportation that has been themed after an old-fashioned passenger railroad. Even the motorcoach staff will be dressed to the theme of 1920’s rail travel. Booking will be available via their website and pricing should be similar to Mears Connect.

I hope one of these options will work for you, Sheila. Wishing you a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
