I am arriving in Disney World on November 26, 2023. Four years ago I bought 2 Magic Bands and they have not been taken out of the package. Will they still be good to use this year? Thanks, Rick

Greetings, Richard, and welcome to planDisney, where we're always fully charged! I want to be the first to welcome you back after a four-year break, and I'm sure your Walt Disney World Resort visit in November will be worth waiting for. Let's talk about those Disney bands, also called MagicBands, so that you can make a plan!

I recently chatted with an electrifying Cast Member who said that Disney bands can last up to five years, depending on factors like usage and storage. Since yours have never been activated, they might be good to go. I suggest you bring them along and ensure they're linked to your My Disney Experience account. Since there isn't a way to check the battery before you arrive, bringing them along wouldn't hurt. What have you got to lose?

If the bands are working correctly, you should be able to open your Disney Resort Hotel door with them, scan into the theme parks, and more. The Cast Member said that sometimes the older bands won't automatically link your attraction photos, but you might be able to manually scan them at the end of the ride.

But if your Disney bands do not work, I'm happy to say you can purchase new ones at your Disney Resort Hotel and many gift shops throughout Disney property. You will link it to your My Disney Experience account using your mobile app and the serial number on the new band. You should check out the newer generation of Disney bands because they are rechargeable!

Richard, I'm sending pixie dust and electric sparks so you'll have a magical visit with perfectly functioning technology. Please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
