We are arriving in Disney World May 31st - June 7. Is this normally a really busy time of year? We tried to make reservations at Chef Mickey's and they were completely booked. Any suggestions on what are next choice for character dining should be?

The entire summer, from Memorial Day to mid-August, is busy at WDW. The rule of thumb is that if school is out, then the WDW parks are crowded. And beginning in late May, schools all over the country start closing for the year.

As for next choice of character dining, there's really no one "best place" for me to recommend. The choice of which would be most appealing to your family depends on many factors including where you're staying, the ages and genders of your children, and their particular Disney interests. For example, if you had preschool-age Playhouse Disney fans, I would send you to the Play 'n Dine meal at Hollywood & Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios. If you were staying at Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach Clubs, I'd send you to the Cape May Cafe breakfast at the Beach Club.

Two character meals that I happen to like a lot are Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom, because I enjoy sampling the interesting African foods, and the Garden Grill in the Land pavilion at Epcot, because the revolving restaurant is always a big hit with the kids. But truly, all the character meals are good. At each of the meals, the characters give the children at every table some individual attention, giving them pleasant greetings, signing autographs and posing for photos. You really can't go wrong with any of them.
