Hello, we are arriving the day before Thanksgiving. Where is a good place to eat a Thanksgiving dinner on Disney Property. There are 12 of us going, for a family reunion.

    Hi Lorna,

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite times to visit Disney World. Although the crowds are heavier and the lines longer, we love starting the holiday season with Mickey Mouse and his pals.

Our first choice and favorite place to have Thanksgiving dinner is Liberty Tree Tavern at Magic Kingdom. The restaraunt is modeled after a colonial New England restaraunt and just has a great feel to it. On top of that it features a delicious old fashioned traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, stuffing, vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls and apple pie.

Most Disney World restaurants offer a traditional meal of turkey and stuffing as part of their menu that evening. A few of our other favorites spots, with a great open setting for large parties, are Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club Resort and Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.

My only concern is the availability you may face. Disney has been taking reservations for Thanksgiving day for a couple of months now, and given the usual holiday crowds, most restaurants are booked in advance. Given the holiday, and you large party size, I would call 407-939-3463 immediately to see what is still open. An option that may help is to eat early or late, or be willing to split your party into two or three tables.

Good luck and wishing you a fantastic kickoff to the holidays!
