We are arriving Aug. 6-11, 2018. I am starting to plan our itinerary and I would like to know which parks have extra magic hours (morning & evening) on these dates. Or, is it better to avoid the parks because of crowds with extra hours?

Hello, Jill! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Walt Disney World Resort offers Extra Magic Hours as a perk to Guests staying at participating Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Each day, Guests will be invited to enjoy a few extra hours in at least one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks either before regular park hours or after regular park hours. This can be a great way to get in a few extra attractions during you’re busy vacation! In order to enjoy Extra Magic Hours, all Guests need to do is have valid theme park admission and present either their MagicBand or Resort ID upon entering the park.

As of right now, Walt Disney World has not yet released their theme park hours for August 2019. This unfortunately includes which theme parks Extra Magic Hours will be held in and what times they will be taking place. Historically, theme park hours are released six months in advance so I would recommend checking the Park Hours page in another month or so. It is very likely you will be able to find more information regarding Extra Magic Hours at that time.

I have always personally found Extra Magic Hours to be helpful when attempting to experience very popular attractions. For example, I have utilized early morning Extra Magic Hours to ride Rock ’n’ Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios multiple times in a row. In my experience, it largely depends on whether or not you prefer to wake up early or stay up late. I often attend early morning Extra Magic Hours but do not find late evening Extra Magic Hours to be worth it due to my own inability to stay up late!

Have fun planning the remainder of your vacation!
