We arrive nextSaturday after a 7 hour drive and depart on Thurs. No hopper passes staying at Coronado. Are we wasting a day pass if we do not go to a park that first evening? Best to go to downtown Disney, stay at Coronado or what? Have two 8 yr olds.Thx

I am of a mind that rushing to a park on your arrival day, just because they are there, is not always the smartest plan. If you are arriving after a long day of travel, perhaps a relaxing start to the vacation is in order. I would say that a swim in the resort pool, paired with a visit to Downtown Disney for a great dinner could really set a great mood for the vacation.

Now if you have a park admission for that night that would otherwise go wasted, I would recommend that a visit to Epcot and dinner at one of those restaurants would not be a bad idea either. That is a park you could go into, dine, and not feel like you neglected a park visit opportunity. Otherwise the visit to Downtown Disney sounds like a relaxing introduction to your Disney vacation.

    Have a magical vacation!
