We will arrive at Disney on 8/29 at 12:50pm staying at Pop Century for 6 nights. What do you recommend for the first day activities. Kids are 15, 9, 6. Thanks!

    Hello Lisa,

How exciting knowing your Walt Disney World vacation is just one month away, I am slightly envious. Our first day, at Walt Disney World is spent one of two ways and is all dependent upon how many days of tickets we have purchased, what time we arrive on our first day and what time we depart on our final not-so-magical day.

If our arrival time to our Walt Disney World Resort is after 3:00pm or we do not want to use a park ticket on our first day, then we normally check-in, unpack, explore the resort, have some pool time and then head out for a big dinner. Before I arrive, I make an Advance Dining Reservation at a Walt Disney World restaurant that is not in one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks, my family is usually in need of a big meal to stop the rumbly in our tumbly from all the traveling. We typically pick a restaurant at Downtown Disney, on the Boardwalk, in one of the Walt Disney World Resort monorails or head to one of our all time favorites, Whispering Canyon Cafe in Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Depending on where we are and how tired we are, we then will explore Downtown Disney, watch the entertainment at the Boardwalk, or take a trip on the monorail and explore the Walt Disney World Resort monorail resorts. By the end of our arrival day we are ready to snuggle into bed and gear up for our first magical park day the next morning.

If we arrive early on our first day or have purchased enough park ticket days, then my family heads to one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks, that is scheduled to be open later. I, again, will make an Advance Dining Reservation for a table service restaurant before we arrive, at whichever park we will be visiting, and then we hit the magical road running and doing everything we love at Walt Disney World.

Both ways have worked well for my family and if you need any further pixie dusted suggestions feel free to contact me via the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Meet the Panelist: Amy, Virginia

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
