We arrive at the Contemporary the afternoon of 2/22, head to MK on 2/23 and leave for a Disney cruise the morning of 2/24. It is Princess 1/2 marathon weekend. Anything specific/ suggestion that we'll need to be aware of/ avoid? Thanks!

Hello there, Kevin! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop back by and ask your Walt Disney World Resort vacation question!

There are a variety of fun events produced by runDisney and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is potentially one of the most popular ones of all time! During this royal race weekend, you may experience some alterations in Park Hours and road closures but you will definitively be able to navigate these with a bit of pre-planning!

Since you will be arriving on the afternoon of February 22nd, you will likely only experience delays on the morning of February 23rd. Fortunately, since you are staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort, it should not be too difficult to arrive at the Magic Kingdom via the Monorail! The Disney Princess Half Marathon will begin at 5:30 am on Sunday, February 23rd and should be coming to a close at around 9:00 am that morning. Generally, the parks in which participants will be passing through open later in the morning to reduce the impact on general park-going Guests. I would recommend checking on the Park Hours web page to see what time the Magic Kingdom will be opening on the morning of February 23rd. It is quite likely that your morning will be minimally impacted if it is at all!

If you are planning on driving anywhere on the morning of February 23rd, I would strongly recommend checking with Cast Members at Disney's Contemporary Resort to see which roads will be closed for the race! This way, you can plan to avoid these areas before heading to your destination!

Have fun continuing to plan for your 2020 vacation!
