Welcome aboard, Mark! I love
Castaway Cay! Disney's private island paradise is always a highlight of any of our Disney Cruise Line voyages that stop there. You'll love all that's offered on this gorgeous island!
As you walk off the ship at Castaway Cay, Cast Members will be handing out towels, so no need to bring your own. I do suggest grabbing two per family member though. We always like to have one to put on our chair that stays dry the other to dry off with, plus one always tends to get sandy, so it's good to have an extra! So, grab your towels and head to the tram stop. There is a tram that takes guests to two stops for Family Beach, so hop off wherever you'd like and stake out a spot on the beach. There are plenty of loungers, chairs, and umbrellas, so you won't have a problem finding a place to call home base for the day. No need to rent a cabana unless you'd really like to. My family and I opt not to spend the extra money for the private cabanas because we like to be out and about all day, exploring the island, so we really wouldn't be there that much. It sounds like you're ready for some adventure too.
If you bring your own snorkel gear, that's great! Or you can
rent snorkel equipment on the island. Either way, you'll have to borrow one the mandatory yellow snorkel vests when you head out into Snorkel Lagoon. It's great snorkeling out there. The last time we were there, my son and I were so thrilled when a sea turtle swam right under us! Plus, if you're on the hunt for Hidden Mickey's, there are some surprises that Disney has hidden for you under the waves! Keep your eyes peeled!
Have a great time planning, Mark, and please visit us again if you have more questions before you head out to sea!
We're happy to help!
