We will arrive at the Cabins at Fl. Wilderness Nov. 5th. My wife can only walk short distances. We have a wheel chair. Will that be sufficient to get around FT. Wilderness? Or, should we rent an electric cart? Do you know what they charge for them?

    Hi Barry,

We just visited Fort Wilderness for the first time this year and fell in love with the resort. There are so many amazing amenities and the property is peaceful and gorgeous.

It is a small taste of the wilderness though and there are large areas of land that are not paved and the cabins and campsites are quite spread out from the main areas where you would find restaurants, Disney transportation, and shopping. There are internal buses, wheelchair accessible, that run throughout the property and they run quite regularly. This might be a great option for you and your wife. While you could walk down the road from the cabins, it is a long walk to most areas and will most likely not be easy with the chair.

If you are not comfortable using the Disney buses, I would certainly suggest an electric golf cart. When I was there a few months ago, they were around $54.00 per day. Another suggestion would be to rent one for the days you plan on staying around the Fort and use the bus when you are headed out to the parks for the day.

    Have a magical time!
