In April, we will be going to WDW but we decided to stay at Staybridge Suites outside of the park. We will be renting a car. We were told that we could not ride on the Disney World Transportation is this true?

Not true. Any guest visiting any of the Disney parks can use the Disney transportation, regardless of whether they are staying in a Disney-owned hotel. Just park your car at any theme park lot. Then you can make full use of any WDW transportation (monorail, boats, or buses) free of charge. Have a great trip!
