Hello Kay!
Welcome to planDisney! Kay, you’ve asked quite the big question!
The Walt Disney World Resort is huge, in fact, you probably didn’t know that there are over
25 different Disney Resort Collection Hotels! When you mix that number of resorts with four theme parks and a water park, you’re talking over 125 different routes and timeframes from resorts to parks! Since I’m limited on how much will fit here, and I seem to have misplaced my magic wand, I don’t think I can squish all that information into one answer. But I can give you some general guidance!
I tend to anticipate 15 minutes or so for average travel time between a resort and a theme park. With the longest trip being 20 or so minutes from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to Magic Kingdom, or the resorts near Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The shortest would be walking from Disney’s Beach Club Resort to the International Gateway of Epcot which is about 5 minutes.
Kay, while the actual transportation time is 15 to 20 minutes, I typically leave myself a full hour to go from door to door if we need to use anything other than our own feet. How I explain this to friends who are planning trips is this; you need 5 minutes to be running late, 5 minutes to walk to the
bus, or
boat, or
Monorail, or
Skyliner, up to 20 minutes to wait for the bus, or boat, or Monorail, or Skyliner, 20 minutes between destinations, and 10 minutes to get off the bus, or boat, or Monorail, or Skyliner through security and to the actual gates of the theme park.
I hope this gets you started with your planning. If I knew a few resorts you were considering, I’d be happy to give you a more specific answer. You are always welcome to submit a question with more details and I’m happy to send you a personalized answer!
Have a Magical Day!
