Hi Kimberly,
Welcome to planDisney! I see that you’ll be arriving at the Walt Disney World Resort very soon, so I’ll jump right in and help with your answer.
Disney’s
Disability Access Service is a great resource for guests with developmental disabilities who cannot wait in a conventional standby queue for extended periods of time. This service has been a life-saver for those who need it, so I am glad that you have access to it. As you know, registration is available up to 30 days prior to your arrival date via live video chat and the person requiring DAS must be present at the time of registration. Your DAS registration is valid for the length of your ticket or up to 1 year, whichever is shorter. Guests need to re-register once that time period has lapsed.
The DAS service has undergone some changes recently, and at this time attraction selections are available for individual attractions one at a time on the day of your visit via the My Disney Experience app. Guests can only have one return time booked at a time and must be inside a Disney park to utilize the service.
In addition to DAS, I also want to make sure that you know about all accessibility offerings at Disney World. My fellow panelist
Amy points out that the resort has a guide that outlines all the
sensory experiences for attractions in the parks. Additionally, the
Guests with Disabilities Overview provides tons of helpful information such as the
Accessibility Planning Guide & Recommendations so that you can plan a strategy for your days.
I hope this information is helpful, Kimberly. If you need any additional help with planning we’ll be here ready to help. We’ll see ya real soon!
Your pal,
Sakinah
