What is appropriate for kids to wear on formal and semi formal night? Do little boys need a jacket? Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Jennifer! Formal and Semi-Formal nights are some of my favorite times on a Disney cruise!

Back home, we don't have too many opportunities to get all dolled up and head out to formal dinners as a family, so we love to wear our best on those nights on the ship, kids included! My son usually wears a suit and tie or at least a sports coat with tie on those two evenings. My daughter wears a nice dress or even a princess dress for those nights. However, you will see many families not quite as formal as we like to be. You will see anything from tuxedos to simply long pants with a polo shirt for the boys. Girls wear anything from a formal dress to a simple summer dress.

Disney Cruise Line does ask that long pants or dresses be worn every evening in the main dining restaurants, even on Cruise Casual nights, though I don't believe they will deny anyone entrance into the restaurant if they have shorts on. The exception to this is at the Adult Exclusive restaurants, Palo and Remy, both of which have a strict dress code for adults.

I'd recommend dressing your kiddos up on both Formal and Semi-Formal night. Even the characters wear their fanciest clothes that evening. Pictures of your little ones in their finest with Mickey in his tuxedo or Minnie in her evening gown always make for great memories!

Have fun as you continue to plan, Jennifer! Let me know if I can help out with anything else!
