Ahoy, Tanya!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing such a thoughtful question our way. My #1
Disney Cruise Line vacation tip is to be sure you make a
placeholder reservation while onboard; I’m glad you’re aware of this great offer, and I’m happy to help you understand what’s possible. The best way to beat the post Disney Cruise blues is to have another one to look forward to!
An Onboard Booking Offer is available
during your current Disney Cruise Line vacation exclusively through the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. This special offer is considered a “placeholder” as you make a deposit while onboard, receive a reservation number via email, and then apply that special offer discount to a future Disney cruise that sails within 24 months of the booking date. I confirmed with a Crew Member today that you may not apply this special offer to an existing reservation, unfortunately. Once you have that new reservation number, you may
call Disney Cruise Line to apply the placeholder to a specific itinerary.
One workaround may be to apply the placeholder to a brand-new reservation for the same sailing you already have booked, and then cancel the original reservation once the placeholder is secured with a new reservation through Disney. Depending on your sail date and when you originally booked, the Onboard Booking Offer may not result in a lower cruise price than what you currently have. I encourage you to
review the pricing online and
speak with a Crew Member to determine the placeholder savings to see what may be best for your family.
Did you see the recent
announcement for new Summer 2024 itineraries? There’s so much fun with Disney Cruise Line on the horizon, with the grand opening of a new private island
Lighthouse Point and many new destinations to explore! New itineraries are typically released 12-18 months in advance, and I’ve found the best savings on a future Disney cruise are to combine opening-day prices with a placeholder reservation. It makes for a long wait until your sail date, but I think the savings are worth it.
I always book a placeholder reservation while on a current cruise, Tanya. The deposit is fully refundable if you choose not to sail within 24 months or if something happens to disrupt your plans.
I hope you have a fabulous cruise ahead to look forward to! Please come back and “sea” us with any more questions you have. We’re here to bring clarity or just to help you make the most of this special vacation!
Wishing you a magical cruise,
Amy
