Christine from FL Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

If I apply and am approved for a Disney Visa, can I use it the same day to purchase passes?

Hiya, Christine! I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney as you prepare for your upcoming visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.

As a Disney Visa Credit Card customer, I'm thrilled to hear you're planning to apply for this credit card. I get super excited when I earn Disney Reward Dollars because it's basically free money! So let's look at how the application process typically works so you can start using your card as soon as possible.

I chatted with a friendly gentleman at Disney Visa customer service, and he said the short answer is yes! You can begin using your new account as soon as you're approved. Some customers are approved immediately during the online application process, so here's wishing on a star that you get good news.

He said the card activation process will be streamlined if you already have a Chase account. Upon approval, you'll receive instructions to add it to your digital wallet through your Chase app. If you don't have a current Chase account, you'll need to call customer service once you're approved; they'll walk you through adding it to your digital wallet.

If you get immediate approval and you're at Walt Disney World, I recommend heading to Guest Relations at any theme park to purchase your tickets or annual passes with your new credit card. You might still need to chat with Chase customer service, but I'm sending pixie dust your way so that the process goes smoothly.

My friend at Chase said that if you aren't approved immediately, you'll probably need to wait until your application is processed. It may take 7-10 business days for your actual Disney Visa Card to arrive. If that's the case, then I see another Disney vacation in your future!

Here's my favorite Disney Visa Card tip: Once you've started using your card for purchases, you can stop by Guest Relations at any of the theme parks for a Disney Rewards Redemption Card. I've done this at the office near The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Park. The packet has instructions for activating the redemption card, and once I linked it to my account over the phone, I had about $25 to spend. It was pure magic!

Christine, I hope you have a fantastic time on your trip. Hug Mickey for me, and please stop by planDisney anytime!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
