Hi there, Julie! Welcome back to planDisney. It‘s so great to answer a question from a fellow Canadian.
On my most recent trip to
Walt Disney World Resort, I took the opportunity to chat with a Cast Member at
Disney Spring‘s PhotoPass Service Studio. I had a few questions about streamlining my tech and using just my Apple Watch instead of also wearing a
DisneyBand or the newest version of the DisneyBand. The Cast Member I spoke with cautioned that some rides don‘t always add photos automatically (and sometimes, even DisneyBands miss these too) so he recommended noting the time you‘re on a ride (you can even take a quick screenshot right from your Apple Watch by pressing the Digital Crown and side button at the same time). If the attraction photos are missing from your photo gallery, you can swing by a PhotoPass location and a Cast Member can help find your photo(s) once they know the approximate time you rode. If you‘d rather wait until you are home, you can fill out a form online and they can still find your photos.
If you‘d like to use your Apple Watch either for park entry or photos, you‘ll first need to set up a
Disney MagicMobile Pass that will be added to your Apple Wallet. To do this, open the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. Scroll until you spot the header “Disney Account“ and beneath it, you‘ll see “Set Up MagicMobile Entry“. From here, you can peruse the various designs and choose the one that calls you like the sea calls my friend, Moana. Click the “+” in the top-right corner and follow the prompts to add your Disney MagicMobile Pass to your Apple Wallet. Express Mode is automatically enabled for Apple Devices which means you can scan your Apple Watch without pressing any buttons.
Tip: If you’d like to
snap some fun PhotoPass photos, visit one of four PhotoPass Studios (Disney Springs, EPCOT - The Wandering Reindeer in the Norway pavilion, the Royal Portrait Studio in Sir Mickey’s at Magic Kingdom Park, and on the second floor of the main building at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa). The studios have various backdrops as well as props - my family’s Studio photos turned out great!
Julie, I hope this information is helpful. If you think of any other questions, please
let me know!
