Judith,
No boat, no problem! The route you will follow will be the same in both directions, so let me plan it out as you venture from
Disney's Art of Animation Resort to Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness.
From the Art of Animation, take a bus to
Disney Springs. Once there, just get on the next bus headed to Fort Wilderness. This will drop you off at the southern gate into that area. From there you can take an internal bus that will take you all the way up to Pioneer Hall. There are multiple internal bus routes, but typically they all end up at the same place, just about 500 feet away from Pioneer Hall. When you are ready to return home, just reverse the trip order, and you will complete your adventure!
ALTERNATE ROUTE!There might be a faster way to get from Point A to Point B in this instance, but it does rely on
Disney's Hollywood Studios hours being just right. In this instance, if you were to take the
Disney Skyliner from your resort to Hollywood Studios, you could then catch the bus to Fort Wilderness, and then take that internal bus route that I mentioned. This is going to be faster than the prescribed route that I mention above, because the Disney Skyliner journey to Hollywood Studios is faster than the bus ride to Disney Springs. But on your return trip home, if Hollywood Studios is already closed, you would not have a bus to take back to the park, and possibly no Skyliner either.
BOTTOM LINEUnless you are planning on staying at Pioneer Hall late into the night, like past 10 pm, the alternate route will be more convenient, faster, and more enjoyable. It likely would still be your best bet on the way to Pioneer Hall, and you would have to judge which of the two return trips is a better option.
BONUS TIP If you have time on your visit, consider visiting the nearby
Settlement Trading Post. This resort store has some fun souvenirs, including resort-specific shirts.
