Is there anything special to help celebrate my sons birthday? We are expecting a new addition to our family and this will be our last vacation just us 3. We want this to be a Very special time

Hiya Joshua and Welcome to planDisney,

Oh boy! It sounds like you have a whole bunch of reasons to celebrate, so how perfect that you are headed to The World's Most Magical Celebration! Walt Disney World Resort is the ideal place to celebrate!

So what is a birthday celebration without a cake? I would start by adding a specialty cake at a Disney restaurant. Hopefully you have a few advanced dining reservations in place, and if so, there are a number of restaurants where you can order a really adorable Mickey Mouse cake with a special Happy Birthday message added. While locations typically keep a few extra on-hand, it is best to order these at least 4 days prior to your reservation. You can also pre-order a handmade cake from Amorette's Patisserie in the Disney Springs area, to take back and celebrate in your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room.

Now, speaking of restaurants, if you have not added a character dining experience to your schedule, I highly suggest checking now for availability. There are a number of options, and while the menus and character experiences change, they are all so much fun and a perfect way for your son to have a little extra birthday time with some Disney pals. All of the character meals are very popular and since your trip is just around the corner, the reservations may be full. If that happens, I would recommend checking back often as there are occasional openings when Guests' plans change. Some other ways to celebrate your family is by adding an Enchanting Extra experience to your stay. One of our family's favorite experiences is the Capture Your Moment photo shoot which can be reserved at any of the four theme parks. It is a great way to commemorate this time together before the new arrival.

If you are looking for an extra special theme park outing then Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a great option. This special event takes place at Magic Kingdom on select evenings. Party-goers can enjoy a long list of  experiences and entertainment that only takes place during the party and you all could pick a family themed costume and join in the festivities. One last thought, be sure to ask for a Happy Birthday button at your resort front desk or any of the Guest Relations locations and have your son wear it throughout the trip. The Cast Members love to sprinkle birthday wishes and pixie dust on their Guests.

I hope some of the ideas will help add a little extra magic to your trip. Whatever choices you make, I think the best way to celebrate any milestone is by simply being there as a family! Be sure to take lots of pictures and videos - the memories will last a lifetime! Happy Early Birthday and Congratulations. If I can help with any additional questions, please stop back and see me

    Wishing you a magical time!
